What we keep, and what churches never see.

You do not have to tell us who you are

There is no sign-up. When you first open Churchfit your browser makes up a random id for itself — a string of letters and numbers with no name attached — and that is the only thing tying your answers together. We never ask for your name, your email, your phone number or your date of birth, and the assistant is instructed never to ask either.

Clearing your browser data throws that id away and starts you over. We have no way to link the old one to the new one, which is the point.

What we actually store

• —The random id your browser made up.
• —Which of the four starting points you picked, if you picked one. It changes how the app talks to you, never which churches you see.
• —Your location: the coordinates you shared or the place you typed, plus the city name and the search radius.
• —Your quiz answers, and what the assistant understood from your conversation.
• —The conversation itself, message by message.
• —Visits you planned, and anything you told us afterwards about how it went.
• —Facts you reported as wrong, against a one-way hash of your id rather than the id itself.

Your location is stored as coordinates, not just a town. We use it to measure distance and nothing else. It is never attached to a church, never sent to one, and never used to work out where you live for any other purpose.

What a church can find out

A church that manages its listing can see how many people looked at its profile and how many planned a visit. Numbers, not people.

It cannot see your quiz answers, your conversation, your other results, which churches you compared it against, or that any particular person visited. This is not a policy we intend to keep — it is built so that it cannot be broken casually. The conversation lives in a separate part of the database that nothing church-facing is allowed to reach, and an automated test fails the build if any code path ever connects the two.

The one exception is the one you choose: if you ask us to let a church know you are coming, we send exactly what you approved and nothing else.

Who else sees any of it

• —Anthropic — your messages, to run the assistant. They do not train on it.
• —Google — a place name or coordinates when you search or load the map, to turn one into the other. Google also gives us the list of churches to go and check; we keep only their id for each place and get the actual details from the church.
• —Neon — our database host, where all of the above is stored.
• —Netlify — our hosting, which sees ordinary web request logs.
• —Resend — an email address, only when you have asked us to send something on your behalf.

That is the whole list. Nobody pays us for access to any of it, and there is no advertising anywhere in Churchfit, so there is no advertiser to share it with.

How long we keep it

Conversations and quiz answers stay until you clear them or twelve months pass without you coming back, whichever is first. Planned visits are kept for a year so the app can ask how it went. Anonymous counts — how many people viewed a profile — are kept indefinitely, because there is nothing in them to identify.

Getting rid of it

Clearing your browser data removes everything held in the browser immediately. To have the stored side deleted as well, email hello@findyourchurchfit.com with your id — you can find it in the You tab — and we will delete it. We will not ask you why.

Children

Churchfit is meant for adults choosing a church, often for a family. We do not knowingly keep anything from a child under 13, and we never ask for a child’s details. Telling us you need a nursery says something about the church you want, not about your child.

If this page and the software ever disagree

Tell us, and treat the software as the thing that needs fixing. This page is written from the code and is updated in the same change as the code, but if something here is wrong we would rather hear it than have it quietly stay wrong.
